The Trans Cure?
For decades, some medical practitioners and faith groups have worked in hidden corners to offer a cure for gay, lesbian and transgender people which, of course, has never been proven to work. Although conversion therapy is well known to affect gay and lesbian people, the transgender community are even more likely to suffer. As a debate around a proposed ban comes to a head, those most affected speak out about their experiences.
The Trans Cure? brings you first-hand accounts from the people who matter - the victims, the support networks, the researchers and the religious and medical groups who speak out against it.
The LGBTQ+ community is unified in their fight against conversion therapy, but elsewhere many groups are debating whether a ban is the right move. This issue requires sensitivity and detail. Follow the work as it happens.
If you have experienced conversion therapy or know somebody who has, and want to tell your story, please reach out to us so we can get the word out about these practices happening behind closed doors.
